Preparation in getting your TIP (CDL A permit) Expect reading through the Michigan CDL Manual, practice quizzes, tests, instructional videos, mapping, logging, safety procedures, and hands on introduction to the truck.

SKILLS TRAINING

Coupling and uncoupling training as well as skills training. Some maneuvers you will be learning our straight line backing, offset backing and 90 degree backing.

ROAD TRAINING

You will learn to shift proficiently while traveling local roads, city streets and nearby highways. The student will learn right and left hand turns, merging, proper space management and safety techniques that will drive them for the years to come.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Whether you are traveling by Greyhound, Amtrak, or Airline, Suburban’s one-on-one travel coordinator will help ensure your arrival or departure is a smooth process. Upon arrival the Suburban TDTS shuttle service will bring you to your housing facility. All facilities offer newly remodeled rooms with access to a microwave and refrigerator, plus accommodating amenities such as shuttle service, continental breakfast, wifi and more. Suburban TDTS will be your home away from home while you train to get your CDL A.

TRAINING

Once your application is approved you will be given a class start date reserving your seat. Travel arrangements and housing accommodations will then be set up with our travel coordinator. Training is approximately 3 – 4 weeks or 160-Clock hours total. Classes start every Tuesday.
